44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
66 by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Beth Scoggins of Mineola
77 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2009; and
88 WHEREAS, Jerry Scoggins and the former Beth Jordan, who had
99 been sweethearts at Garland High School, were wed at Miller Road
1010 Baptist Church in Garland in 1959; through the years, they have
1111 nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with
1212 the addition of 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Curtis
1313 Roberts, Sara and Scott West, and Amy and Matt Reese, as well as 10
1414 grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Anna, Amy, Thomas, Lee, Alexandra,
1515 Alayna, Victoria, and Nathan, and 8 great-grandchildren; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins is retired from Pioneer Natural
1717 Resources, while Mrs. Scoggins is a retired legal assistant; they
1818 are both members of the First Baptist Church in Mineola, where Mr.
1919 Scoggins is employed; and
2020 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
2121 half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
2222 in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
2323 has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
2424 grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Beth Scoggins on their
2727 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
2828 for continued happiness; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins as an expression of high regard
3131 by the Texas House of Representatives.
