| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Beth Scoggins of Mineola |

| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Scoggins and the former Beth Jordan, who had |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | been sweethearts at Garland High School, were wed at Miller Road |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Baptist Church in Garland in 1959; through the years, they have |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the addition of 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Curtis |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Roberts, Sara and Scott West, and Amy and Matt Reese, as well as 10 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Anna, Amy, Thomas, Lee, Alexandra, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Alayna, Victoria, and Nathan, and 8 great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins is retired from Pioneer Natural |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Resources, while Mrs. Scoggins is a retired legal assistant; they |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | are both members of the First Baptist Church in Mineola, where Mr. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Scoggins is employed; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Beth Scoggins on their |

| 27 | 27 | | golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
