 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
 by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Beth Scoggins of Mineola
 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Jerry Scoggins and the former Beth Jordan, who had
 been sweethearts at Garland High School, were wed at Miller Road
 Baptist Church in Garland in 1959; through the years, they have
 nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with
 the addition of 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Curtis
 Roberts, Sara and Scott West, and Amy and Matt Reese, as well as 10
 grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Anna, Amy, Thomas, Lee, Alexandra,
 Alayna, Victoria, and Nathan, and 8 great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins is retired from Pioneer Natural
 Resources, while Mrs. Scoggins is a retired legal assistant; they
 are both members of the First Baptist Church in Mineola, where Mr.
 Scoggins is employed; and
 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
 half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
 in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
 has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
 grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Beth Scoggins on their
 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
