H.R. No. 1610
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned five
decades, Bennie and Carolyn Blakey of Mineola celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary on February 14, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Bennie Blakey and the former Carolyn Connelly
exchanged the vows of matrimony in Plano on that special day in
1959, and over the course of their marriage, they have found in each
other a devoted life partner; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Blakey count among their blessings a
fine family that includes two children and their spouses, Brian and
April Blakey and Beth and Bobby Johnson, as well as four
grandchildren; Mr. Blakey retired from Texas Instruments after 35
years, and Mrs. Blakey enjoyed a 30-year career in the banking
industry; and
WHEREAS, Looking back over the past half-century, Bennie and
Carolyn Blakey can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and
know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that
more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Bennie and Carolyn Blakey on their
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Blakey as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
