| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Horace and Mattie Johnson of Houston |

| 7 | 7 | | are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 25, 2009; |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson exchanged the vows of matrimony |

| 10 | 10 | | on that special day in 1959, and over the course of their marriage, |

| 11 | 11 | | they have found in one another a devoted life partner; and |

| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson |

| 13 | 13 | | count among their blessings a fine family that includes 4 children, |

| 14 | 14 | | Kevin, Phillip, Horace, and Jessie, and 14 grandchildren, La |

| 15 | 15 | | Tarsha, Jermaine, Aqua, Phillip, Chadwick, Kevin, Jessica, Taylor, |

| 16 | 16 | | Trevon, Inayah, Nancy, Malik, Trinity, and Charles; and |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |

| 18 | 18 | | half-century, Horace and Mattie Johnson have remained constant in |

| 19 | 19 | | their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |

| 20 | 20 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
