H.R. No. 1614
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Horace and Mattie Johnson of Houston
are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 25, 2009;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson exchanged the vows of matrimony
on that special day in 1959, and over the course of their marriage,
they have found in one another a devoted life partner; and
WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson
count among their blessings a fine family that includes 4 children,
Kevin, Phillip, Horace, and Jessie, and 14 grandchildren, La
Tarsha, Jermaine, Aqua, Phillip, Chadwick, Kevin, Jessica, Taylor,
Trevon, Inayah, Nancy, Malik, Trinity, and Charles; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half-century, Horace and Mattie Johnson have remained constant in
their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has
enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Horace and Mattie Johnson on the
occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
