55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Quincy J. Green of El Paso, who
77 died on June 2, 2008, at the age of 26; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 601st Aviation Support Battalion,
99 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort
1010 Riley, Kansas, Specialist Green lost his life while bravely serving
1111 his country in Tikrit, Iraq; and
1212 WHEREAS, Quincy Green graduated in 2001 from Orange Park High
1313 School in Florida, where he endeared himself to others with his
1414 optimism, energy, and sense of humor; he was a dedicated member of
1515 the ROTC who often stayed up late prepping for Navy Junior ROTC
1616 events, and he was beloved for his lively performances as the
1717 school's mascot at football games; and
1818 WHEREAS, Following in his brother's footsteps, this esteemed
1919 young man enlisted in the army in 2003 and went on to become a
2020 chaplain's assistant; he was on his first deployment to Iraq at the
2121 time of his death; and
2222 WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
2323 women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
2424 service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young man is a
2525 sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Green embodied the
2626 highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and
2727 loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now,
2828 therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3030 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist
3131 Quincy J. Green and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
3232 family: to his wife, Lori; to his daughters, Alanah and Kaitlyn; and
3333 to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3636 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Quincy
3737 Green.
