| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Quincy J. Green of El Paso, who |

| 7 | 7 | | died on June 2, 2008, at the age of 26; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 601st Aviation Support Battalion, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Riley, Kansas, Specialist Green lost his life while bravely serving |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | his country in Tikrit, Iraq; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Quincy Green graduated in 2001 from Orange Park High |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School in Florida, where he endeared himself to others with his |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | optimism, energy, and sense of humor; he was a dedicated member of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the ROTC who often stayed up late prepping for Navy Junior ROTC |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | events, and he was beloved for his lively performances as the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | school's mascot at football games; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Following in his brother's footsteps, this esteemed |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | young man enlisted in the army in 2003 and went on to become a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | chaplain's assistant; he was on his first deployment to Iraq at the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | time of his death; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young man is a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Green embodied the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |

| 31 | 31 | | Quincy J. Green and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | family: to his wife, Lori; to his daughters, Alanah and Kaitlyn; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
