H.R. No. 1638 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Quincy J. Green of El Paso, who died on June 2, 2008, at the age of 26; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the 601st Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort Riley, Kansas, Specialist Green lost his life while bravely serving his country in Tikrit, Iraq; and WHEREAS, Quincy Green graduated in 2001 from Orange Park High School in Florida, where he endeared himself to others with his optimism, energy, and sense of humor; he was a dedicated member of the ROTC who often stayed up late prepping for Navy Junior ROTC events, and he was beloved for his lively performances as the school's mascot at football games; and WHEREAS, Following in his brother's footsteps, this esteemed young man enlisted in the army in 2003 and went on to become a chaplain's assistant; he was on his first deployment to Iraq at the time of his death; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young man is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Green embodied the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist Quincy J. Green and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Lori; to his daughters, Alanah and Kaitlyn; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Quincy Green.
