5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Mary S. |

6 | 6 | | Wallace of San Antonio, who passed away on April 14, 2009, at the |

7 | 7 | | age of 86; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 2, 1922, the former Mary Spiller was the |
---|
9 | 9 | | daughter of Mary and W. W. Spiller; she was joined in marriage with |
---|
10 | 10 | | Robert K. Wallace, and the couple enjoyed a rewarding relationship |
---|
11 | 11 | | until Mr. Wallace passed away; in addition, Mrs. Wallace was the |
---|
12 | 12 | | mother of one son, Edward; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Deeply involved in her community, Mrs. Wallace was a |
---|
14 | 14 | | member of such diverse organizations as the Keep San Antonio |
---|
15 | 15 | | Beautiful Committee, the City Crime Commission, and the planning |
---|
16 | 16 | | committee for Brooks City-Base; moreover, she helped found the |
---|
17 | 17 | | Southeast Highland Hills Good Neighbor Crime Watch and the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Highlands Community Alliance, and she was a member of the South San |
---|
19 | 19 | | Antonio Chamber of Commerce Board and the National Association of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Women in Construction; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Wallace was an avid golfer who took part in |
---|
22 | 22 | | numerous tournaments throughout the Lone Star State, and she |
---|
23 | 23 | | particularly enjoyed couples' events and competitions organized by |
---|
24 | 24 | | the Executive Women's Golf Association, of which she was a member; |
---|
25 | 25 | | she also belonged to the Devine Women's Golf Association and made |
---|
26 | 26 | | numerous friends during the many years she played at the Devine Golf |
---|
27 | 27 | | Course; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Mary Wallace led an active, caring, and purposeful |
---|
29 | 29 | | life, and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of |
---|
30 | 30 | | her loved ones; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary S. Wallace and |
---|
33 | 33 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her son, |
---|
34 | 34 | | Edward H. Littell, Jr.; to her sister, Berniece Wittkopf; to her |
---|
35 | 35 | | brothers, James and Lowell Spiller; and to her other relatives and |
---|
36 | 36 | | friends; and, be it further |
