44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
66 by a great and enduring love, Raymond and Martha Johnson of Waco
77 celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on September 14, 2007;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, Raymond Johnson and the former Martha Engelke were
1010 united in matrimony in Waco on that special day in 1937; through the
1111 years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made
1212 even richer with the addition of a son, Ray; and
1313 WHEREAS, Now retired, Mr. Johnson worked for Santa Fe
1414 Railroad in California for many years, and Mrs. Johnson was a
1515 dedicated homemaker throughout their marriage; and
1616 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
1717 seven decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
1818 in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
1919 has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
2020 grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2222 Legislature hereby congratulate Raymond and Martha Johnson on their
2323 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2424 continued happiness; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2626 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as an expression of high regard by
2727 the Texas House of Representatives.
