| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned three |

| 6 | 6 | | decades, David and Lisa Doherty of Houston are celebrating their |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 30th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The couple met and fell in love while attending The |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University of Texas at Austin, where they were both pursuing |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degrees in business; David Booty Doherty and the former Lisa Anne |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Michalka exchanged the vows of matrimony at St. Anne Catholic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Church in Beaumont on that special day in 1979, and over the course |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of their marriage, they have found in each other a devoted life |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | partner; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, They count among their blessings a fine family that |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | includes two beloved children, David and Lawrence, with whom they |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | treasure sharing the many special occasions of life; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Doherty was employed with Texas Commerce Bank |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and now owns Crawford-Doherty Capital Management; the former owner |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of a decorating store, Mrs. Doherty currently teaches kindergarten |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and has worked with local arts organizations, including the Janie |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | C. Lee Gallery and the Houston Museum of Natural Science; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In addition to contributing to their community on a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | professional level, the couple take an active role in civic affairs |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | as members of the Houston Society, the Houston City Club, and St. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Anne Catholic Church, and Mr. Doherty serves as board chair for the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Looking back over the past three decades, David and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Lisa Doherty can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
