H.R. No. 1811
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned three
decades, David and Lisa Doherty of Houston are celebrating their
30th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2009; and
WHEREAS, The couple met and fell in love while attending The
University of Texas at Austin, where they were both pursuing
degrees in business; David Booty Doherty and the former Lisa Anne
Michalka exchanged the vows of matrimony at St. Anne Catholic
Church in Beaumont on that special day in 1979, and over the course
of their marriage, they have found in each other a devoted life
partner; and
WHEREAS, They count among their blessings a fine family that
includes two beloved children, David and Lawrence, with whom they
treasure sharing the many special occasions of life; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Doherty was employed with Texas Commerce Bank
and now owns Crawford-Doherty Capital Management; the former owner
of a decorating store, Mrs. Doherty currently teaches kindergarten
and has worked with local arts organizations, including the Janie
C. Lee Gallery and the Houston Museum of Natural Science; and
WHEREAS, In addition to contributing to their community on a
professional level, the couple take an active role in civic affairs
as members of the Houston Society, the Houston City Club, and St.
Anne Catholic Church, and Mr. Doherty serves as board chair for the
CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare; and
WHEREAS, Looking back over the past three decades, David and
Lisa Doherty can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and
know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that
many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate David and Lisa Doherty on their
30th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Doherty as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
