| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mariah L. Willis is celebrating a significant |

| 6 | 6 | | milestone in her life on May 9, 2009, when she graduates from West |

| 7 | 7 | | Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in communication |

| 8 | 8 | | disorders; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Odessa High School, where she played |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | varsity basketball for four years, Ms. Willis has also |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | distinguished herself as a member of the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | basketball team; moreover, she has participated in the Fellowship |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of Christian Athletes, the Sign Language Club, and the Black |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Women's Association, and she has served as a representative of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Student Athletic Association; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman has been recognized as a |

| 17 | 17 | | Community Star, and she is the recipient of three athletic scholar |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | academic awards; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A source of pride to her family, Mariah Willis may |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | indeed reflect on her academic career with a sense of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | accomplishment and look forward to a future bright with promise; |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
