55 WHEREAS, Mariah L. Willis is celebrating a significant
66 milestone in her life on May 9, 2009, when she graduates from West
77 Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in communication
88 disorders; and
99 WHEREAS, A graduate of Odessa High School, where she played
1010 varsity basketball for four years, Ms. Willis has also
1111 distinguished herself as a member of the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs
1212 basketball team; moreover, she has participated in the Fellowship
1313 of Christian Athletes, the Sign Language Club, and the Black
1414 Women's Association, and she has served as a representative of the
1515 Student Athletic Association; and
1616 WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman has been recognized as a
1717 Community Star, and she is the recipient of three athletic scholar
1818 academic awards; and
1919 WHEREAS, A source of pride to her family, Mariah Willis may
2020 indeed reflect on her academic career with a sense of
2121 accomplishment and look forward to a future bright with promise;
2222 now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2424 Legislature hereby congratulate Mariah L. Willis on her graduation
2525 from West Texas A&M University and extend to her sincere best wishes
2626 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for Ms. Willis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2929 House of Representatives.
