 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned half a
 century, Clyde Pittman, Jr., and Joyce Pittman of Irving celebrated
 their 50th wedding anniversary on November 7, 2008; and
 WHEREAS, Natives of the Lone Star State, Clyde H. Pittman,
 Jr., and the former Joyce J. Howard exchanged the vows of matrimony
 on that special day in 1958, and over the course of their marriage,
 they have found in each other a devoted life partner; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Pittman count among their blessings a
 fine family that includes two children, Craig Howard Pittman and
 Clarissa Dawn Pittman, as well as three granddaughters, Ariel
 Lauren Pittman, Emily Dawn Erica Lindsey, and Kate Alicia Grace
 Lindsey; and
 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. armed forces, Mr. Pittman left
 in 1960 for an 18-month tour of duty in Korea, where he served his
 country with distinction; Mrs. Pittman holds a master's degree in
 civic affairs from the University of Dallas, earned the distinction
 of being the first woman elected to the Irving City Council, and has
 taken on key roles with the Republican Party at the local and state
 levels; a longtime precinct chair, she serves as vice president of
 membership for the Irving Republican Women's Club; and
 WHEREAS, Looking back over the past five decades, Clyde and
 Joyce Pittman can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and
 know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that
 many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Joyce Pittman and Clyde Pittman,
 Jr., on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere
 best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Pittman as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
