| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the death of U.S. |

| 6 | 6 | | Army Private First Class Sean P. McCune of Euless, who died while |

| 7 | 7 | | serving his country in Samarra, Iraq, on January 11, 2009, at the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | age of 20; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The fourth generation of his family to enter the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | military, Private McCune joined the army in April 2008, and he was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Hawaii; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Sean McCune was born on June 2, 1988, at Carswell Air |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Force Base, and he grew up in Grapevine and Haltom City; he attended |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Haltom High School for two years, and then finished high school in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Alabama, where his mother lives; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Beloved by his family and friends for his kind and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | caring ways, Sean McCune had a fun-loving side as well and enjoyed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | playing computer and video games; he was also fond of eating sweets |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and photographing wildlife with an old Nikon camera; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | service, and while the tragic death of this young man is a sobering |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | reminder of the cost of war, those who knew and loved him will |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Private Sean P. McCune |

| 31 | 31 | | mother and stepfather, Sandra and Sandy Gibson; to his father, |
