H.R. No. 2068 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the death of U.S. Army Private First Class Sean P. McCune of Euless, who died while serving his country in Samarra, Iraq, on January 11, 2009, at the age of 20; and WHEREAS, The fourth generation of his family to enter the military, Private McCune joined the army in April 2008, and he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Sean McCune was born on June 2, 1988, at Carswell Air Force Base, and he grew up in Grapevine and Haltom City; he attended Haltom High School for two years, and then finished high school in Alabama, where his mother lives; and WHEREAS, Beloved by his family and friends for his kind and caring ways, Sean McCune had a fun-loving side as well and enjoyed playing computer and video games; he was also fond of eating sweets and photographing wildlife with an old Nikon camera; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military service, and while the tragic death of this young man is a sobering reminder of the cost of war, those who knew and loved him will forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Private Sean P. McCune and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Sandy Gibson; to his father, Larry McCune; to his sister, Amber McCune; to his stepsister, Natasha Gibson; to his half-sister, Vicki Gibson; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sean P.
