| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Zapata High School senior Alexandra M. Harsacky has |

| 6 | 6 | | been named the 2009 Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Selected from among those students recognized as |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Youth of the Month during the 2008-2009 school year, Ms. Harsacky |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was the October recipient of that honor; currently ranked first in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | her senior class, she has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Frank and Maria Harsacky, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Ms. Harsacky has for three years been a member of the student |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | council and the National Honor Society, which she has also served as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | president; she has represented her school at Girls State and as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | captain or co-captain of the ZHS University Interscholastic League |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | social studies, accounting, mathematics, and cross-examination |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | debate teams; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Equally impressive is Ms. Harsacky's dedication to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | helping others in her community; she has volunteered with the Boys |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and Girls Clubs of America, the public library, and a local nursing |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | home, in addition to aiding her fellow students as a tutor; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Alexandra Harsacky's accomplishments, both inside |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and outside the classroom, are a source of great pride to her family |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and friends, and she may indeed look forward to a future bright with |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | promise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Alexandra M. Harsacky on being |

| 30 | 30 | | named the 2009 U.S. Border Patrol Youth of the Year for Zapata High |
