H.R. No. 2078 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Zapata High School senior Alexandra M. Harsacky has been named the 2009 Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol; and WHEREAS, Selected from among those students recognized as Youth of the Month during the 2008-2009 school year, Ms. Harsacky was the October recipient of that honor; currently ranked first in her senior class, she has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Frank and Maria Harsacky, Ms. Harsacky has for three years been a member of the student council and the National Honor Society, which she has also served as president; she has represented her school at Girls State and as captain or co-captain of the ZHS University Interscholastic League social studies, accounting, mathematics, and cross-examination debate teams; and WHEREAS, Equally impressive is Ms. Harsacky's dedication to helping others in her community; she has volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the public library, and a local nursing home, in addition to aiding her fellow students as a tutor; and WHEREAS, Alexandra Harsacky's accomplishments, both inside and outside the classroom, are a source of great pride to her family and friends, and she may indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Alexandra M. Harsacky on being named the 2009 U.S. Border Patrol Youth of the Year for Zapata High School and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Harsacky as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
