H.R. No. 2128
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Verna Trammel has been named a 2009 Unsung Hero by
the Galveston County Daily News for her outstanding contributions
to her community; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to bringing joy to those in need, Mrs.
Trammel crochets lap blankets for the wheelchair-bound, caps for
cancer patients, and afghans for friends; she lovingly creates
hundreds of items each year, working to make them colorful and
presenting them personally; and
WHEREAS, A native of Wichita Falls, she has made her home in
Hitchcock for six decades; at the age of 83, she still drives,
visits nursing homes, and volunteers at the Sunshine Shop, which
she managed for 13 years before retiring two years ago; in her free
time, she enjoys growing flowers in her yard and working with her
hands; and
WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their
time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude,
and it is a pleasure to honor Verna Trammel, who has enriched the
lives of countless Gulf Coast residents with her dedicated
community service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Verna Trammel on being named a 2009
Unsung Hero by the Galveston County Daily News and extend to her
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Trammel as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
