5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Lubbock lost a cherished neighbor and |

6 | 6 | | an admired educator with the untimely passing of Christine L. Shinn |
---|
7 | 7 | | on December 22, 2008, at the age of 56; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on September 27, 1952, to Merton and Opal Teig |
---|
9 | 9 | | Eggeman in Missouri, the former Chris Eggeman graduated from Butler |
---|
10 | 10 | | High School and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of |
---|
11 | 11 | | Missouri--Columbia; she married Alan Shinn in 1977, and the couple |
---|
12 | 12 | | initially moved to Lubbock; they became the parents of two |
---|
13 | 13 | | daughters, Erin and Lauren; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, When her husband accepted a teaching position at |
---|
15 | 15 | | Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Ms. Shinn enrolled |
---|
16 | 16 | | at the university and earned a master's degree in music education; |
---|
17 | 17 | | after the family returned to Lubbock, she began working as a music |
---|
18 | 18 | | teacher in area schools and spent the majority of her career at Iles |
---|
19 | 19 | | Elementary School; she became well-known for her exceptional |
---|
20 | 20 | | ability to communicate the language of music to her students and |
---|
21 | 21 | | retired in the spring of 2008 after many productive years in the |
---|
22 | 22 | | classroom; moreover, she served as chancel choir director at |
---|
23 | 23 | | Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the |
---|
24 | 24 | | congregation; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Chris Shinn lived a caring and purposeful life that |
---|
26 | 26 | | was devoted to her family and to the art of music, and she will be |
---|
27 | 27 | | forever remembered with great fondness by all those who held her |
---|
28 | 28 | | dear; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Christine L. Shinn and |
---|
31 | 31 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
---|
32 | 32 | | husband, Alan Shinn; to her daughters, Erin and Lauren Shinn; to her |
---|
33 | 33 | | sister, Martha Tatman, and her husband, Pete; and to her other |
---|
34 | 34 | | relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

37 | 37 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christine |
