| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Alice High School football team completed an |

| 6 | 6 | | outstanding 2008 regular season, compiling a perfect record of 10 |

| 7 | 7 | | wins and 0 losses and winning the District 31-4A title; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Possessing a high-powered offense, the Coyotes |

| 9 | 9 | | tallied more than 40 points in the majority of their games, while |

| 10 | 10 | | their stout defense stonewalled opponents time and again; the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | team's string of commanding victories included a crucial 35-21 win |

| 12 | 12 | | against Flour Bluff on October 17 that put Alice at the top of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | standings and led to the school's first district championship since |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1985; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Brent Davis and his staff, the |

| 16 | 16 | | spirited student-athletes of the Alice team made their second |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | consecutive trip to the playoffs, where they claimed the area |

| 18 | 18 | | championship and advanced to the regional round of postseason play; |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The gridiron triumphs of the Coyotes during 2008 |

| 21 | 21 | | have been a source of great pride for the local community, and this |

| 22 | 22 | | memorable season will long be treasured by the team's many loyal |

| 23 | 23 | | supporters; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Alice High School Coyotes |

| 26 | 26 | | football team on its exceptional 2008 campaign and extend best |
