H.R. No. 2156 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Alice High School football team completed an outstanding 2008 regular season, compiling a perfect record of 10 wins and 0 losses and winning the District 31-4A title; and WHEREAS, Possessing a high-powered offense, the Coyotes tallied more than 40 points in the majority of their games, while their stout defense stonewalled opponents time and again; the team's string of commanding victories included a crucial 35-21 win against Flour Bluff on October 17 that put Alice at the top of the standings and led to the school's first district championship since 1985; and WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Brent Davis and his staff, the spirited student-athletes of the Alice team made their second consecutive trip to the playoffs, where they claimed the area championship and advanced to the regional round of postseason play; and WHEREAS, The gridiron triumphs of the Coyotes during 2008 have been a source of great pride for the local community, and this memorable season will long be treasured by the team's many loyal supporters; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Alice High School Coyotes football team on its exceptional 2008 campaign and extend best wishes to its members for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
