| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Floyd of John Jay High School in San Antonio has |

| 6 | 6 | | been named 2009 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year by the San |

| 7 | 7 | | Antonio Express-News; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A veteran head coach with 27 years of experience who |

| 9 | 9 | | has spent his entire career at Jay High School, Coach Floyd has |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | accrued an impressive 537 wins with the Mustangs; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, His squad wrapped up the 2008-2009 season with an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | overall record of 35 wins and only 5 losses, including a 15-1 mark |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in district games, and took home the District 28-5A title for the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | first time in more than 20 years; the Mustangs' playoff appearance |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was their first in seven years, and the team advanced all the way to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the regional title game; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Exceptional coaches inspire athletes to perform at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the peak of their abilities, and Mike Floyd's commitment to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | excellence indeed makes him a most deserving recipient of this |

| 20 | 20 | | award; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
