R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mike Floyd of John Jay High School in San Antonio has
been named 2009 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year by the San
Antonio Express-News; and
WHEREAS, A veteran head coach with 27 years of experience who
has spent his entire career at Jay High School, Coach Floyd has
accrued an impressive 537 wins with the Mustangs; and
WHEREAS, His squad wrapped up the 2008-2009 season with an
overall record of 35 wins and only 5 losses, including a 15-1 mark
in district games, and took home the District 28-5A title for the
first time in more than 20 years; the Mustangs' playoff appearance
was their first in seven years, and the team advanced all the way to
the regional title game; and
WHEREAS, Exceptional coaches inspire athletes to perform at
the peak of their abilities, and Mike Floyd's commitment to
excellence indeed makes him a most deserving recipient of this
award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Floyd on being named 2009
Girls Basketball Coach of the Year by the San Antonio Express-News
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Coach Floyd as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
