55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever hold dear their
77 memories of Oscar Neunhoffer of Kerrville, who died on June 27,
88 2007, at the age of 83; and
99 WHEREAS, Born on December 10, 1923, Mr. Neunhoffer was a
1010 graduate of Tivy High School; during World War II he took time from
1111 his studies at Texas A&M University to serve his country in Europe;
1212 commissioned a lieutenant, he later assisted at the Nuremberg
1313 Trials in his capacity as a military policeman; after returning
1414 stateside, he graduated from Texas A&M with the Class of 1945; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. Neunhoffer married Anna Broussard in 1947, and
1616 they made their home variously in India, Rhodesia, Kenya, South
1717 Africa, and Switzerland, as his career with the Caterpillar Tractor
1818 Company took them all over the world; this esteemed Texan worked on
1919 such important projects as the construction of the Kiribi Dam in
2020 Pakistan and diamond mines in South Africa; he also played a crucial
2121 role in delivering equipment for diamond mining and pipeline
2222 operations in Siberia; and
2323 WHEREAS, At the time of his retirement, Mr. Neunhoffer was
2424 president of Caterpillar Tractor SA in Geneva, Switzerland, and
2525 vice president of operations in Peoria, Illinois; he concluded his
2626 long and highly successful tenure with the company in 1987 and
2727 retired with his wife to the Texas Hill Country; and
2828 WHEREAS, The richness of Oscar Neunhoffer's life can be seen
2929 in his cherished family and friends and in his myriad
3030 accomplishments, and he will be remembered with deep fondness by
3131 all who were blessed to share in the warmth of his love and
3232 affection; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3434 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Oscar Neunhoffer
3535 and offer sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3636 wife, Anna; to his daughter, Carol; to his grandson, Erik
3737 Neunhoffer; to his nephews, Julius and Marvin Neunhoffer; to his
3838 grandnieces, Victoria, Heidi, and Katherine Neunhoffer; and to his
3939 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4242 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oscar
4343 Neunhoffer.
