6 | 6 | | Enterprises of Dallas is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Now one of the largest minority-owned engineering |
---|
9 | 9 | | companies in Dallas, Dikita Enterprises was founded in Milwaukee, |
---|
10 | 10 | | Wisconsin, in 1979 by Lucious L. Williams, who used his car as |
---|
11 | 11 | | collateral to secure a start-up loan; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, After several successful years in Milwaukee, Dikita |
---|
13 | 13 | | opened its Dallas office in 1983, and it has since managed offices |
---|
14 | 14 | | in Fort Worth, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Shreveport, Louisiana; it |
---|
15 | 15 | | currently operates a location in San Diego along with its corporate |
---|
16 | 16 | | headquarters in Dallas; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The firm's name translates as "bringing the |
---|
18 | 18 | | community together for its greater good," and over the past three |
---|
19 | 19 | | decades, Dikita has built a strong reputation as a premier |
---|
20 | 20 | | multidisciplinary engineering, planning, and management consulting |
---|
21 | 21 | | firm, with clients in both the public and private sectors; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The company's two divisions, Dikita Engineering and |
---|
23 | 23 | | Dikita Management Services, have overseen more than a billion |
---|
24 | 24 | | dollars' worth of projects, including data collection for Dallas |
---|
25 | 25 | | Area Rapid Transit, construction management for the Starplex |
---|
26 | 26 | | Amphitheatre, engineering and design services for the South Oak |
---|
27 | 27 | | Cliff Rail Line, and management of bond programs for a number of |
---|
28 | 28 | | Texas school districts and universities; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Still owned and run by Mr. Williams as president and |
---|
30 | 30 | | CEO, the company has further benefited from the active involvement |
---|
31 | 31 | | of his daughter, Eve Williams, who serves as vice president and |
---|
32 | 32 | | chief financial officer; Mr. Williams's granddaughter, Erika, has |
---|
33 | 33 | | started to work for the company while she completes her engineering |
---|
34 | 34 | | degree at Texas A&M University; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The prosperity of the Lone Star State depends in |

36 | 36 | | large part on the strength and innovative spirit of family-owned |

37 | 37 | | businesses, and the three generations of the Williams family are |

38 | 38 | | helping to ensure that Dikita Enterprises will continue to thrive |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
