 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family-owned engineering firm Dikita
 Enterprises of Dallas is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its
 founding in 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Now one of the largest minority-owned engineering
 companies in Dallas, Dikita Enterprises was founded in Milwaukee,
 Wisconsin, in 1979 by Lucious L. Williams, who used his car as
 collateral to secure a start-up loan; and
 WHEREAS, After several successful years in Milwaukee, Dikita
 opened its Dallas office in 1983, and it has since managed offices
 in Fort Worth, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Shreveport, Louisiana; it
 currently operates a location in San Diego along with its corporate
 headquarters in Dallas; and
 WHEREAS, The firm's name translates as "bringing the
 community together for its greater good," and over the past three
 decades, Dikita has built a strong reputation as a premier
 multidisciplinary engineering, planning, and management consulting
 firm, with clients in both the public and private sectors; and
 WHEREAS, The company's two divisions, Dikita Engineering and
 Dikita Management Services, have overseen more than a billion
 dollars' worth of projects, including data collection for Dallas
 Area Rapid Transit, construction management for the Starplex
 Amphitheatre, engineering and design services for the South Oak
 Cliff Rail Line, and management of bond programs for a number of
 Texas school districts and universities; and
 WHEREAS, Still owned and run by Mr. Williams as president and
 CEO, the company has further benefited from the active involvement
 of his daughter, Eve Williams, who serves as vice president and
 chief financial officer; Mr. Williams's granddaughter, Erika, has
 started to work for the company while she completes her engineering
 degree at Texas A&M University; and
 WHEREAS, The prosperity of the Lone Star State depends in
 large part on the strength and innovative spirit of family-owned
 businesses, and the three generations of the Williams family are
 helping to ensure that Dikita Enterprises will continue to thrive
 well into the 21st century; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dikita Enterprises on its 30th
 anniversary and extend to the Williams family and their employees
 sincere best wishes for continued success and achievement; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
