 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the untimely loss
 of United States Army Sergeant First Class Justin S. Monschke, who
 died on October 14, 2007, at the age of 28; and
 WHEREAS, A weapons sergeant with the Special Forces, Sergeant
 Monschke was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special
 Forces Group (Airborne), based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina; he
 was mortally wounded while conducting combat operations in Iraq;
 and
 WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Krum and played baseball
 and ran with the cross-country team in high school; he fulfilled a
 long-held dream when he enlisted in the army during his junior year,
 and he left for boot camp a week after his graduation from Krum High
 School in 1997; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Monschke trained extensively and in 2002,
 he earned the green beret; he served as an instructor at the U.S.
 Army Ranger Training Battalion in Georgia and as a squad leader and
 observer/controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort
 Polk; and
 WHEREAS, Among the numerous awards conferred on Sergeant
 Monschke were two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement
 Medals, three Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service
 Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; and
 WHEREAS, This beloved son, husband, and father brought joy
 into the lives of his family and many friends; although his mission
 in Iraq was a hazardous one, Sergeant Monschke took its dangers in
 stride and performed his mission with exemplary dedication and
 professionalism; his unwavering integrity and devotion to this
 country reflected the highest ideals of the Special Forces, and his
 fellow citizens owe him a debt of gratitude that the passage of time
 can never diminish; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of United States Army
 Sergeant First Class Justin S. Monschke and extend sincere sympathy
 to the members of his family: to his wife, Melissa; to his
 daughter, Ashley; to his son, Ryan; to his father, Larry Monschke;
 to his mother, Patty Jett; to his stepson, Dylan; and to his other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Justin S.
 Monschke.
