| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of U.S. Army Corporal William David O'Brien of Rice, who |

| 7 | 7 | | died while bravely serving his country on March 15, 2008, at the age |

| 8 | 8 | | of 19; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based out |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of Fort Riley, Kansas, Corporal O'Brien was killed while serving in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Baghdad, Iraq; he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Heart; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Will O'Brien was born in Ennis on March 30, 1988; |

| 15 | 15 | | dedicated to the army, his family, and his friends, he was a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fun-loving young man who enjoyed spending time outdoors and |

| 17 | 17 | | especially liked playing golf; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |

| 19 | 19 | | forces, Will O'Brien inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives of his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic Texan |

| 22 | 22 | | close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Corporal William |
