H.R. No. 2314 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Corporal William David O'Brien of Rice, who died while bravely serving his country on March 15, 2008, at the age of 19; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Fort Riley, Kansas, Corporal O'Brien was killed while serving in Baghdad, Iraq; he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart; and WHEREAS, Will O'Brien was born in Ennis on March 30, 1988; dedicated to the army, his family, and his friends, he was a fun-loving young man who enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially liked playing golf; and WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, Will O'Brien inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Corporal William David O'Brien and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his mother, Dawn O'Brien; to his father, Tom O'Brien; to his brother, John Anthony O'Brien, and his wife, Haley; to his half brothers, James Michael O'Brien and his wife, Judy, Robert Joseph O'Brien, and First Sergeant Daniel Shawn O'Brien and his wife, Chiloi; to his half sister, Michele Leigh Nolan; to his grandfather, Frank Reznicek; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army Corporal William David O'Brien.
