5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A notable career in public service is drawing to a |
---|
6 | 6 | | close on January 30, 2009, with the retirement of Judy Womack as the |
---|
7 | 7 | | Mesquite city secretary; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Womack began her tenure with the City of |
---|
9 | 9 | | Mesquite in 1984 as a secretary in the city's engineering division, |
---|
10 | 10 | | where her ability and dedication were quickly recognized; she |
---|
11 | 11 | | earned a promotion to administrative secretary five years later and |
---|
12 | 12 | | became assistant city secretary in 1996; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Effective February 1, 2003, Ms. Womack undertook the |
---|
14 | 14 | | position of city secretary and has served admirably in that |
---|
15 | 15 | | capacity for six years; skilled in administrative duties, she ably |
---|
16 | 16 | | coordinated numerous city events such as elections, banquets, and |
---|
17 | 17 | | Student Government Day; she also succeeded in increasing public |
---|
18 | 18 | | access to municipal information by posting relevant documents on |
---|
19 | 19 | | the city's website, and she worked jointly with the city council's |
---|
20 | 20 | | information technology department to streamline city operations by |
---|
21 | 21 | | making agenda packets available electronically to members and |
---|
22 | 22 | | staff; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This diligent Texan has supported her community in |
---|
24 | 24 | | other ways as well, serving as co-chair of the United Way committee, |
---|
25 | 25 | | volunteering consistently to help with Christmas in the Park, and |
---|
26 | 26 | | assisting in the city's relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina; |
---|
27 | 27 | | her remarkable record of service prompted Mayor John Monaco to |
---|
28 | 28 | | proclaim January 20, 2009, as Judy Womack Day in the city of |
---|
29 | 29 | | Mesquite; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Womack has enjoyed the |
---|
31 | 31 | | love and support of her husband, Bobby, and their two children, Matt |
---|
32 | 32 | | and Hillary; following her retirement, she looks forward to |
---|
33 | 33 | | traveling and spending more time with her family; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Judy Womack has earned the respect and admiration of |
---|
35 | 35 | | council members and her other colleagues over the course of a |
---|
36 | 36 | | quarter-century of service to the citizens of Mesquite, and she may |
---|
37 | 37 | | indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on |
---|
38 | 38 | | the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Judy Womack on the occasion of her |
---|
41 | 41 | | retirement as Mesquite city secretary and extend to her sincere |
---|
42 | 42 | | best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

44 | 44 | | prepared for Ms. Womack as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
