44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A notable career in public service is drawing to a
66 close on January 30, 2009, with the retirement of Judy Womack as the
77 Mesquite city secretary; and
88 WHEREAS, Ms. Womack began her tenure with the City of
99 Mesquite in 1984 as a secretary in the city's engineering division,
1010 where her ability and dedication were quickly recognized; she
1111 earned a promotion to administrative secretary five years later and
1212 became assistant city secretary in 1996; and
1313 WHEREAS, Effective February 1, 2003, Ms. Womack undertook the
1414 position of city secretary and has served admirably in that
1515 capacity for six years; skilled in administrative duties, she ably
1616 coordinated numerous city events such as elections, banquets, and
1717 Student Government Day; she also succeeded in increasing public
1818 access to municipal information by posting relevant documents on
1919 the city's website, and she worked jointly with the city council's
2020 information technology department to streamline city operations by
2121 making agenda packets available electronically to members and
2222 staff; and
2323 WHEREAS, This diligent Texan has supported her community in
2424 other ways as well, serving as co-chair of the United Way committee,
2525 volunteering consistently to help with Christmas in the Park, and
2626 assisting in the city's relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina;
2727 her remarkable record of service prompted Mayor John Monaco to
2828 proclaim January 20, 2009, as Judy Womack Day in the city of
2929 Mesquite; and
3030 WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Womack has enjoyed the
3131 love and support of her husband, Bobby, and their two children, Matt
3232 and Hillary; following her retirement, she looks forward to
3333 traveling and spending more time with her family; and
3434 WHEREAS, Judy Womack has earned the respect and admiration of
3535 council members and her other colleagues over the course of a
3636 quarter-century of service to the citizens of Mesquite, and she may
3737 indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on
3838 the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
4040 Legislature hereby congratulate Judy Womack on the occasion of her
4141 retirement as Mesquite city secretary and extend to her sincere
4242 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for Ms. Womack as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4545 House of Representatives.
