| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of United States Army Staff |

| 6 | 6 | | Sergeant Brandon Wade Farley of Haworth, Oklahoma, suffered an |

| 7 | 7 | | immeasurable loss with the death of this valiant soldier on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | September 18, 2008, at the age of 30; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Staff |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sergeant Farley lost his life while bravely serving in Afghanistan; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Born in Sulphur Springs, Brandon Farley lived in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Cleburne before moving to Haworth, where he graduated from high |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | school; he subsequently fulfilled a desire to serve his country |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | when he joined the Marines and later the U.S. Army; after four |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | years, which included a tour in Iraq, he reenlisted and was again |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | deployed to the Middle East; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Farley was a beloved son and brother; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a football fan and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, shooting, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and four-wheeling; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | forces, Brandon Farley inspired others with his courage, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | although his passing has left a void in the lives of those who were |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry his memory |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Staff |

| 29 | 29 | | Sergeant Brandon Wade Farley and extend sincere sympathy to the |

| 30 | 30 | | members of his family: to his mother, Sherry Farley; to his father, |

| 31 | 31 | | Wade Farley; to his brother, Corey Farley; to his sisters, Ashlyn |

| 32 | 32 | | and Lauren Farley; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, |
