44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The family and friends of United States Army Staff
66 Sergeant Brandon Wade Farley of Haworth, Oklahoma, suffered an
77 immeasurable loss with the death of this valiant soldier on
88 September 18, 2008, at the age of 30; and
99 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry
1010 Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Staff
1111 Sergeant Farley lost his life while bravely serving in Afghanistan;
1212 and
1313 WHEREAS, Born in Sulphur Springs, Brandon Farley lived in
1414 Cleburne before moving to Haworth, where he graduated from high
1515 school; he subsequently fulfilled a desire to serve his country
1616 when he joined the Marines and later the U.S. Army; after four
1717 years, which included a tour in Iraq, he reenlisted and was again
1818 deployed to the Middle East; and
1919 WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Farley was a beloved son and brother;
2020 a football fan and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, shooting,
2121 and four-wheeling; and
2222 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
2323 forces, Brandon Farley inspired others with his courage, and
2424 although his passing has left a void in the lives of those who were
2525 fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry his memory
2626 close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2828 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Staff
2929 Sergeant Brandon Wade Farley and extend sincere sympathy to the
3030 members of his family: to his mother, Sherry Farley; to his father,
3131 Wade Farley; to his brother, Corey Farley; to his sisters, Ashlyn
3232 and Lauren Farley; and to his other relatives and many friends; and,
3333 be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3636 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Staff
3737 Sergeant Brandon Wade Farley.
