 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Valley Business Exchange in McAllen and other South
 Texas chapters of Business Network International are commemorating
 International Networking Week February 2 through 6, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, This annual event celebrates the key role that
 networking plays in the development and success of commercial
 ventures throughout the world; and
 WHEREAS, By sharing ideas, contacts, and referrals, sales and
 marketing professionals build a vital foundation for success, and
 the significance of this process is reflected in the growth and
 popularity of networking organizations; for instance, more than
 100,000 people in 40 countries are members of Business Network
 International, and BNI has over 400 participants in South Texas
 alone; and
 WHEREAS, Through networking groups, entrepreneurs have
 access to meetings where they can meet potential customers and
 others who can help grow their businesses; in addition, members are
 able to attend beneficial workshops and trade shows, and they can
 use the organization's information resources to increase their
 knowledge and skills; and
 WHEREAS, The prosperity of the Lone Star State depends in
 part on the creation of vibrant and productive business
 communities; networking contributes to that process by offering
 Texans outstanding opportunities for professional growth and
 fellowship, and this important factor in the state's economy is
 indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize February 2 through 6, 2009, as
 International Networking Week and commend all those affiliated with
 the McAllen and South Texas chapters of Business Network
 International for their contributions to local commerce.
