| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of |

| 6 | 6 | | U.S. Army Specialist Aaron James Walker of Harker Heights, who died |

| 7 | 7 | | on September 18, 2007, at the age of 23; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based out of Vilseck, Germany, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Specialist Walker lost his life during combat operations in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Baghdad, Iraq; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, "A. J." Walker, the son of loving parents Darryl and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Annie Walker, grew up in Arkansas, attending high school in Little |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Rock, where he was a member of the football team; also active in his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | church, he played drums in its band and helped his dad with his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | duties as youth pastor; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Known for his passion for life, Specialist Walker |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | loved his country and followed in his father's footsteps when he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | joined the military; above all else, he was devoted to his family, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | including his wife, Amber; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service, yet the tragic death of this fine soldier is a sobering |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Walker embodied the highest |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |

| 29 | 29 | | Aaron James Walker and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his |

| 30 | 30 | | family: to his wife, Amber Walker; to his parents, Darryl and Annie |

| 31 | 31 | | Walker; to his siblings, Alex and Andee; and to his other relatives |
