H.R. No. 2344 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of U.S. Army Specialist Aaron James Walker of Harker Heights, who died on September 18, 2007, at the age of 23; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based out of Vilseck, Germany, Specialist Walker lost his life during combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq; and WHEREAS, "A. J." Walker, the son of loving parents Darryl and Annie Walker, grew up in Arkansas, attending high school in Little Rock, where he was a member of the football team; also active in his church, he played drums in its band and helped his dad with his duties as youth pastor; and WHEREAS, Known for his passion for life, Specialist Walker loved his country and followed in his father's footsteps when he joined the military; above all else, he was devoted to his family, including his wife, Amber; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military service, yet the tragic death of this fine soldier is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Walker embodied the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist Aaron James Walker and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Amber Walker; to his parents, Darryl and Annie Walker; to his siblings, Alex and Andee; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army Specialist Aaron James Walker.
