H.R. No. 2410 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sergeant Mark Alan Vaughn of Clute has rendered outstanding service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, Mark Vaughn enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 1, 2001, at the age of 17, following the notable military tradition set by his grandfathers, Henry Jim Janik, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and Arnold Bernard Vaughn, Sr., who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; and WHEREAS, Currently deployed for his third tour of duty in Iraq, this brave soldier is serving as a tank mechanic with the Bravo Company 115th Base Support Battalion Unit, and he is considering re-enlisting for a third time on completion of the tour; and WHEREAS, During his visits home to the Lone Star State, Sergeant Vaughn takes great pleasure in spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing softball; a caring and devoted family man, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Lindsey, his son, Matthew Isaiah, and his parents, Arnold and Frances; moreover, he is a tremendous source of pride for his fellow residents of Clute, and in April 2009, the Brazoria County Cavalry honored him with a celebratory send-off ceremony; and WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to Sergeant Vaughn and to all of the country's military personnel, for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and their service and sacrifices are truly beyond measure; through his unfaltering dedication to duty, honor, and this nation, Sergeant Vaughn embodies the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and he has earned the lasting admiration and appreciation of all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend U.S. Army Sergeant Mark Alan Vaughn for his courageous and steadfast service in Iraq and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Vaughn as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
