| 7 | 7 | | the prestigious Gold Congressional Award on June 25, 2009; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The national Congressional Award program is |

| 9 | 9 | | sponsored by the United States Congress and is open to young people |

| 10 | 10 | | between the ages of 14 and 23; participants earn Bronze, Silver, or |

| 11 | 11 | | Gold Congressional Awards by achieving goals in volunteer public |

| 12 | 12 | | service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration; |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bradshaw, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Marshall are all |

| 15 | 15 | | Eagle Scouts, and all have been members of the Boy Scout troop |

| 16 | 16 | | sponsored by the Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | together, they have contributed more than 1,000 hours of community |

| 18 | 18 | | service in the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Fewer than 270 young people have earned the Gold |

| 20 | 20 | | Congressional Award in the past year, and the hard work and public |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | spirit demonstrated by these three outstanding young men is indeed |

| 22 | 22 | | worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
