H.R. No. 2438 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Three Austin Boy Scouts, John Jefferson Bradshaw, Collin Cruz Evans, and Christopher Russell Marshall, are receiving the prestigious Gold Congressional Award on June 25, 2009; and WHEREAS, The national Congressional Award program is sponsored by the United States Congress and is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 23; participants earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold Congressional Awards by achieving goals in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bradshaw, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Marshall are all Eagle Scouts, and all have been members of the Boy Scout troop sponsored by the Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin; together, they have contributed more than 1,000 hours of community service in the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Fewer than 270 young people have earned the Gold Congressional Award in the past year, and the hard work and public spirit demonstrated by these three outstanding young men is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate John Jefferson Bradshaw, Collin Cruz Evans, and Christopher Russell Marshall for receiving the Gold Congressional Award and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and a bright future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Bradshaw, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
