| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bennice and LaVerne Johnson of Woodway celebrated |

| 6 | 6 | | their 50th wedding anniversary on July 25, 2007, and they may indeed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Bennice Johnson and the former LaVerne Meeck |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | exchanged the vows of matrimony in Palestine, Texas, in 1957, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | over the course of their marriage, they have found in each other a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | loving life partner; Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army, taught at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Huntsville High School, and worked for CertainTeed and Temple |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Products before retiring as a safety coordinator at |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lochridge-Priest; Mrs. Johnson retired after 27 years of service to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | CertainTeed Federal Credit Union; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson count among their blessings a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | fine family that includes their children, Craig Johnson and his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | wife, Holly, and Keith Johnson and his wife, Brenda, as well as |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | three grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Dean, with whom they |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | share the many special occasions of life; the couple are members of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Peace Lutheran Church, work with the Lutheran Braille Workers, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | serve on several church boards; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For half a century, Bennice and LaVerne Johnson have |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | brought to their marriage laughter, kindness, and devotion, and it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is a pleasure to honor them for their enduring commitment; now, |

| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bennice and LaVerne Johnson on |
