5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | death of Louy Elworth Younts, Jr., of Del Rio, on July 27, 2007, at |
---|
7 | 7 | | the age of 74; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Marshall on August 28, 1932, Mr. Younts |
---|
9 | 9 | | overcame many challenges in his boyhood following the untimely |
---|
10 | 10 | | death of his father; he supported his mother and put himself through |
---|
11 | 11 | | college before starting a successful business; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The early trials Mr. Younts faced helped him develop |
---|
13 | 13 | | a strong work ethic and a sense of compassion, and he assisted |
---|
14 | 14 | | countless people in need through his work with individuals with |
---|
15 | 15 | | disabilities and serious chronic diseases and through his |
---|
16 | 16 | | leadership and service in religious and civic associations, among |
---|
17 | 17 | | them the Lions Club International and the Stephen Ministry; he also |
---|
18 | 18 | | gave generously of his time and talents in behalf of Laughlin Air |
---|
19 | 19 | | Force Base, The University of Texas Ex-Students Foundation, and the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Del Rio Chamber of Commerce; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the democratic process, he ran |
---|
22 | 22 | | for the Texas Legislature in 1980 and mentored many young |
---|
23 | 23 | | Republicans and Democrats aspiring to careers in politics; a |
---|
24 | 24 | | devoted husband and father, he was supported in all his endeavors by |
---|
25 | 25 | | his wife of 53 years, Patricia Younts, and two daughters; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Louy Younts was a man of great faith who inspired |
---|
27 | 27 | | others with his diligence and optimism, and he will long be |
---|
28 | 28 | | remembered for his kindness and dedication to the greater good; |
---|
29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Louy Elworth Younts, |
---|
32 | 32 | | Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to |
---|
33 | 33 | | his wife, Patricia Younts; to his daughters, Pamela and Ellen; to |
---|
34 | 34 | | his grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
---|
35 | 35 | | it further |

36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
