44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
66 death of Louy Elworth Younts, Jr., of Del Rio, on July 27, 2007, at
77 the age of 74; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Marshall on August 28, 1932, Mr. Younts
99 overcame many challenges in his boyhood following the untimely
1010 death of his father; he supported his mother and put himself through
1111 college before starting a successful business; and
1212 WHEREAS, The early trials Mr. Younts faced helped him develop
1313 a strong work ethic and a sense of compassion, and he assisted
1414 countless people in need through his work with individuals with
1515 disabilities and serious chronic diseases and through his
1616 leadership and service in religious and civic associations, among
1717 them the Lions Club International and the Stephen Ministry; he also
1818 gave generously of his time and talents in behalf of Laughlin Air
1919 Force Base, The University of Texas Ex-Students Foundation, and the
2020 Del Rio Chamber of Commerce; and
2121 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the democratic process, he ran
2222 for the Texas Legislature in 1980 and mentored many young
2323 Republicans and Democrats aspiring to careers in politics; a
2424 devoted husband and father, he was supported in all his endeavors by
2525 his wife of 53 years, Patricia Younts, and two daughters; and
2626 WHEREAS, Louy Younts was a man of great faith who inspired
2727 others with his diligence and optimism, and he will long be
2828 remembered for his kindness and dedication to the greater good;
2929 now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3131 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Louy Elworth Younts,
3232 Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
3333 his wife, Patricia Younts; to his daughters, Pamela and Ellen; to
3434 his grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
3535 it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3838 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Louy
3939 Elworth Younts, Jr.
