 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
 death of Louy Elworth Younts, Jr., of Del Rio, on July 27, 2007, at
 the age of 74; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Marshall on August 28, 1932, Mr. Younts
 overcame many challenges in his boyhood following the untimely
 death of his father; he supported his mother and put himself through
 college before starting a successful business; and
 WHEREAS, The early trials Mr. Younts faced helped him develop
 a strong work ethic and a sense of compassion, and he assisted
 countless people in need through his work with individuals with
 disabilities and serious chronic diseases and through his
 leadership and service in religious and civic associations, among
 them the Lions Club International and the Stephen Ministry; he also
 gave generously of his time and talents in behalf of Laughlin Air
 Force Base, The University of Texas Ex-Students Foundation, and the
 Del Rio Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the democratic process, he ran
 for the Texas Legislature in 1980 and mentored many young
 Republicans and Democrats aspiring to careers in politics; a
 devoted husband and father, he was supported in all his endeavors by
 his wife of 53 years, Patricia Younts, and two daughters; and
 WHEREAS, Louy Younts was a man of great faith who inspired
 others with his diligence and optimism, and he will long be
 remembered for his kindness and dedication to the greater good;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Louy Elworth Younts,
 Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
 his wife, Patricia Younts; to his daughters, Pamela and Ellen; to
 his grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Louy
 Elworth Younts, Jr.
