| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, James E. Epperson, Jr., of Rocksprings ably served |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the people of Edwards County as a county commissioner for 11 years, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and his dedication and expertise have earned him the respect of many |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | people along the way; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Serving as commissioner for Precinct 3 from 1997 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | through 2008, Mr. Epperson distinguished himself by helping to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | improve the retirement program for Edwards County employees and by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | working with the Texas Department of Transportation to upgrade the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Edwards County Airport; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan played an important role as well |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in the construction of the much-needed Edwards County Annex, which |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | provided more office and courtroom space, and in the improvement of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the financial standing of the county while also lowering the tax |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | rate over the long term; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A native of Edwards County, Mr. Epperson continues |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to ranch on land settled by his grandparents in the early 1900s, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | his retirement has allowed him to spend more time managing that |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | business; with his tenure as a public servant behind him, James |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Epperson may take great pride in his exemplary record of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | achievement and in his many contributions to area residents; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend James E. Epperson, Jr., on his three |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | successful terms as an Edwards County commissioner and extend to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, |
|---|
