55 WHEREAS, Kent Willis of Grapeland has earned a Congressional
66 Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding achievement is being
77 recognized on June 25, 2009, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.; and
88 WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this
99 prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed 400
1010 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal
1111 development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night,
1212 five-day expedition/exploration; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Willis completed the rigorous requirements
1414 within 24 months, excelling in each standard outlined for the
1515 noncompetitive award, which encourages goal-setting and
1616 achievement; and
1717 WHEREAS, By earning a Congressional Award Gold Medal, Kent
1818 Willis has demonstrated remarkable initiative and determination,
1919 as well as a steadfast commitment to serving his community, and he
2020 is truly a worthy role model for his fellow young Texans; now,
2121 therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby congratulate Kent Willis on earning a 2009
2424 Congressional Award Gold Medal and extend to him sincere best
2525 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for Mr. Willis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2828 House of Representatives.
