| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kent Willis of Grapeland has earned a Congressional |

| 6 | 6 | | Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding achievement is being |

| 7 | 7 | | recognized on June 25, 2009, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this |

| 9 | 9 | | prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed 400 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | five-day expedition/exploration; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Willis completed the rigorous requirements |

| 14 | 14 | | within 24 months, excelling in each standard outlined for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | noncompetitive award, which encourages goal-setting and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | achievement; and |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, By earning a Congressional Award Gold Medal, Kent |

| 18 | 18 | | Willis has demonstrated remarkable initiative and determination, |

| 19 | 19 | | as well as a steadfast commitment to serving his community, and he |

| 20 | 20 | | is truly a worthy role model for his fellow young Texans; now, |
