 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Kent Willis of Grapeland has earned a Congressional
 Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding achievement is being
 recognized on June 25, 2009, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.; and
 WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this
 prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed 400
 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal
 development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night,
 five-day expedition/exploration; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Willis completed the rigorous requirements
 within 24 months, excelling in each standard outlined for the
 noncompetitive award, which encourages goal-setting and
 achievement; and
 WHEREAS, By earning a Congressional Award Gold Medal, Kent
 Willis has demonstrated remarkable initiative and determination,
 as well as a steadfast commitment to serving his community, and he
 is truly a worthy role model for his fellow young Texans; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Kent Willis on earning a 2009
 Congressional Award Gold Medal and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Willis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
