| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Chavez has provided indispensable support to |

| 6 | 6 | | the office of Representative David McQuade Leibowitz in her |

| 7 | 7 | | position as an intern during the current legislative session; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Chavez is a participant in the Frank Madla, Jr., |

| 9 | 9 | | and Irma Rangel Legislative Internship Program; in its inaugural |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | year, this notable initiative offers outstanding students of St. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mary's University an opportunity to gain valuable experience |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | working with the Texas Legislature; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A native of Chihuahua, Mexico, Ms. Chavez graduated |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | from Coronado High School in El Paso; she is currently studying |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | political science and economics at St. Mary's, and after graduation |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | she plans to attend law school; in her free time, she teaches |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | reading and writing in Mexico and enjoys working on her family's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | ranch and playing tennis; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Chavez is blessed with a loving family that |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | includes her parents, Katana Urtaza Hernandez and Alfredo Armando |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Chavez Fernandez, and her three siblings, Katana Alexandra, Alfredo |

| 22 | 22 | | Andres, and Miguel Eduardo Chavez, all of whom look forward to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | wishing her well on her 20th birthday on June 5, 2009; and |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, By sharing her unique perspective on issues and |

| 25 | 25 | | contributing countless hours of hard work, Andrea Chavez has helped |

| 26 | 26 | | to ensure that the constituents of House District 117 and the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | citizens of the Lone Star State are well served, and she is indeed |

| 28 | 28 | | deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
