| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The First Annual Memorial "Running Against the Wind" |

| 6 | 6 | | 5K took place in Rankin on May 23, 2009, in memory of respected |

| 7 | 7 | | rancher Bill Lindsey, whose life was cut short on March 25, 2009, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 48; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lindsey appeared to be in excellent health |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | before suffering a massive heart attack, and the "Running Against |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Wind" 5K seeks to honor his legacy, as well as raise awareness |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of the importance of preventive health care; coordinated by Owen |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Yocham and Jason Hahn, the event is being held in conjunction with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the World Championship Barbados Cook-off, hosted by the Rankin |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Affectionately called "Hoss" by his friends, Mr. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Lindsey greeted friends and acquaintances alike with a smile and a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | handshake followed by a hug; he was known for his resourcefulness |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and ingenuity and for following the motto "improvise, adapt, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | overcome"; on his ranches in West Texas and South Dakota, he often |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | worked from sunup to sundown and then spent the evenings having fun |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | with his family; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Although Bill Lindsey is deeply missed by all who |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | were privileged to know him, the annual "Running Against the Wind" |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 5K will help preserve his memory for many years to come; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the First Annual Memorial "Running |

| 29 | 29 | | Against the Wind" 5K and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | event sincere best wishes for continued success. |
