44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant William
66 Wayne Crow suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of this
77 valiant soldier on June 28, 2007, at the age of 28; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to Alpha Company "Outlaws," 2nd Battalion,
99 16th Infantry Regiment, Sergeant Crow served as a Fire-Team Leader
1010 with the 2nd Platoon; he lost his life while bravely serving his
1111 country on his third tour of duty in Iraq; a squad leader and
1212 infantryman, he had previously served in Korea; and
1313 WHEREAS, Highly decorated throughout his career, Sergeant
1414 Crow was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal with
1515 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army
1616 Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, to name but a few; and
1717 WHEREAS, William Crow was devoted to his wife, Michelle, a
1818 graduate of Abilene High School, and their children, Christopher,
1919 David, Alexis, and Kayla, and when he was home on leave, he enjoyed
2020 swimming, watching movies, and playing video games with his family;
2121 and
2222 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
2323 servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts and enormous
2424 sacrifices are deserving of the deepest respect and gratitude;
2525 through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, Sergeant Crow
2626 embodied the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and
2727 those who knew this brave and compassionate soldier will forever
2828 hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3030 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant
3131 William Wayne Crow and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
3232 family: to his wife, Katherine Michelle Crow; to his children,
3333 Christopher, David, Alexis, and Kayla Crow; to his mother, Kathryn
3434 Mondini; to his sister, Candace Crow Hudson; to his mother-in-law
3535 and father-in-law, Kathy and David Hicks; and to his other
3636 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
4040 Wayne Crow.
