| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army National Guard |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Sergeant Christopher David Loza of San Angelo suffered an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | immeasurable loss with his death on April 10, 2009, at the age of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 24; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Loza was assigned to the 1st Squadron, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 124th Cavalry Regiment, 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 36th |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Infantry Division, and he was deployed to Iraq in November 2008; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A native of Abilene, Chris Loza was born on August |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11, 1984, to Amelia Nava and Martin Loza; he graduated from Abilene |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | High School in 2002 and went on to earn a degree in criminal justice |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | from Howard College; he hoped to one day serve his community as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | firefighter or police officer; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Loza was devoted to his family, including |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | his beloved wife, Kristena, and daughter, Iliana Alyse; he enjoyed |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | baseball and softball, was a valued member of Sacred Heart Catholic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Church for much of his life, and was admired by many for his courage |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to stand up for his beliefs; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts and enormous |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | sacrifices are deserving of the deepest respect and gratitude; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, Christopher |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Loza embodied the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and those who knew him will forever hold him close in their hearts; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army National |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Guard Sergeant Christopher David Loza and extend sincere sympathy |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to the members of his family: to his wife, Kristena; to his |

| 33 | 33 | | daughter, Iliana Alyse; to his parents, Martin and Katherine Loza |

| 34 | 34 | | and Eugene and Amelia Gonzalez; and to his other relatives and many |
