H.R. No. 2516 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army National Guard Sergeant Christopher David Loza of San Angelo suffered an immeasurable loss with his death on April 10, 2009, at the age of 24; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Loza was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 124th Cavalry Regiment, 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division, and he was deployed to Iraq in November 2008; and WHEREAS, A native of Abilene, Chris Loza was born on August 11, 1984, to Amelia Nava and Martin Loza; he graduated from Abilene High School in 2002 and went on to earn a degree in criminal justice from Howard College; he hoped to one day serve his community as a firefighter or police officer; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Loza was devoted to his family, including his beloved wife, Kristena, and daughter, Iliana Alyse; he enjoyed baseball and softball, was a valued member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for much of his life, and was admired by many for his courage to stand up for his beliefs; and WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts and enormous sacrifices are deserving of the deepest respect and gratitude; through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, Christopher Loza embodied the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and those who knew him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army National Guard Sergeant Christopher David Loza and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Kristena; to his daughter, Iliana Alyse; to his parents, Martin and Katherine Loza and Eugene and Amelia Gonzalez; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christopher David Loza.
