55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army Private First Class Andrew Travis Engstrom
77 of Slaton, who died on July 4, 2007, at the age of 22; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery
99 Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort
1010 Hood, Private Engstrom lost his life in Taji, Iraq; and
1111 WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
1212 women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
1313 service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering
1414 reminder of the cost of war; and
1515 WHEREAS, Time does not erase the profound debt that Americans
1616 owe to our nation's servicemen and servicewomen for their
1717 courageous efforts and enormous sacrifices; the death of Andrew
1818 Engstrom has left a void in the lives of his loved ones, but they
1919 will forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now,
2020 therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2222 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First Class
2323 Andrew Engstrom and extend sincere condolences to all those who
2424 mourn his passing; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2626 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2727 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
2828 Private First Class Andrew Travis Engstrom.
