H.R. No. 2529
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, LaRae and O. D. Hughes of Longview celebrated their
55th wedding anniversary on April 24, 2009, and they may indeed
reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes exchanged the vows of matrimony
in Center on that special day in 1954, and over the course of their
marriage, they have found in one another a loving life partner; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Hughes also served
his fellow citizens as a constable for many years; today, his
hobbies include motorcycling and traveling; Mrs. Hughes has been a
dedicated homemaker throughout their marriage, and in addition to
spending time with her loved ones, she enjoys shopping; the couple
are both members of Mobberly Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, This devoted pair count among their blessings a fine
family that includes 4 children, Glynn, Mark, Cheryl, and Kyle, as
well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, For 55 years, O. D. and LaRae Hughes have brought to
their marriage laughter, kindness, and devotion, and it is a
pleasure to honor them for their enduring commitment; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate O. D. and LaRae Hughes on the
occasion of their 55th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hughes as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
